A couple of years later, after it became obvious he was interested in acting, I asked him if he would like to play Roy Rogers in a movie. He said he’d have to do a lot of learning before he would dare tackle that role. He has since starred in a made-for-TV movie with his wife, Lisa Hartman, about a legendary rodeo rider wrongly convicted of murder. It was obvious that he’d been honing his acting skills, leaving me to believe that he just might, one day, be able to tackle the role of everyone’s hero, Roy Rogers.
